Martial Arts Combats Obesity through Online Programs

(PRWEB) September 15, 2011

Obesity in America has become an epidemic as the rate has dramatically increased over the past twenty years. In 2010 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that no state in the U.S. had an obesity rate under 20%. With this growing statistic in mind, internationalkarateschool.com is encouraging individuals to get in shape and increase their self-esteem by training in martial arts and karate online.

Through martial arts and karate training online, exercising can begin at an individuals own pace and gradually increase over time. Martial arts can provide a total body workout that combines cardio and strength training.

The CDC reports that childhood obesity in particular is becoming more prevalent as one in six children are now obese. With this issue gaining much attention, September became National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month in 2010.

Internationkarateschool.com realizes how important it is to combat childhood obesity, but as the school year begins to pick up speed and workloads become heavier, balancing school and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can become a challenge.

The online program can help solve this problem because children and teenagers are able to train online at their own convenience, enabling them to balance schoolwork and healthy living. Along with helping to create a healthy balance, International Karate School can help motivate children and help create a sense of accomplishment by earning karate belts.

Internationalkarateschool.com is designed for men, women and children of all ages. The program enables martial arts enthusiasts to earn black belts in the comfort of their own home and on their own time. Director of Safety to present to the Karate Students, Family and Friends: Fausts USA Karate

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) September 30, 2011

Cyber Bullying, Bullying, Keeping our kids safe are concerns for all parents and families. It starts with bullying which is cruel and unfair treatment towards others. Faust’s USA Karate has always taught families in our community to keep children safe. Sensei (teacher) Kathy Faust has worked with NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) since its inception to help keep children safe. In the last 4 years Sensei Faust & USA Karate has donated over $ 50,000 to NCMEC. Faust’s USA Karate was founded in 1986 and is approaching 25 years of providing the best martial arts education for families in Fairport and Rochester’s east side.

On Tuesday November 2nd, election day, a day to stand up for our children at 6 p m, Dr. James Colt, Director of Safety for Monroe Boces will give a presentation to Faust’s USA Karate students, families, and friends.

Dr. Colt’s presentation is free and open to the public will be on “Understanding Cyber Bullying and Digital Abuse.” Bullying abuse is becoming out of control with our children and society. Dr. Colt will teach us to take back control of this issue and help keep our children safe. What’s most important to a child or teen often is social acceptance by their peers. Technology makes it too easy for kids to bully and get hundreds, thousands, and even hundreds of thousands of people involved. Presentation will include some graphic photos designed for parents and adults only.

Sensei Faust has always used the martial arts to teach children to stand up for themselves. Barbara Coloroso, National Anti Bullying Expert and advocate for anti bullying encourages parents to get their child involved in a reputable martial arts school – Enroll your child in martial arts classes. While it is helpful when children are able to physically protect themselves, these types of classes also give kids other tools — self confidence, another support system and feelings of empowerment.

If you are looking for your child to be more active, more respectful or just want to enroll them in something fun, karate can provide a lot of enjoyable life lessons. Karate classes and training teach kids how to be confident while also being self disciplined; it focuses on ones strengths and not their weaknesses.

Kids will learn a variety of techniques to overcome challenges such as success through small attainable goals. The fun and supportive atmosphere that karate provides will Increase self confidence to help your child believe in themselves and will promote positive thinking and continual improvement. The constant dedication and discipline will lead to karate success and will help children physically, emotionally, and socially.

Karate is a fun way to enjoy fitness and exercise and it is important for kids to stay active and in shape. Children stay active throughout karate courses with high energy drills that build stamina, coordination and endurance. Skills such as balance, timing, accuracy, and rhythm can all be achieved through karate training. The fun and challenging games and activities make karate fun for kids of all ages.

Please contact the school if you would like to attend the event at 585 425 3370 or at SenseiKF(at)FaustsUSAKarate(dot)com for more information. USA Karate is located at 6780 Pittsford Palmyra Rd. Fairport, NY 14450.
